What’s interesting, is that for me right now, it’s Blade Runner that is captivating me. What I found though, is that the Dune director, Denis Villeneuve also did Blade Runner 2049. (You know, the sequel from 2017.)
As an aside, I think it was 2011 or 2012 when I was obsessed with Blade Runner last. (The curiosity is that at that point in time, I was the same age as Harrison Ford was when he made this film back in 1981—39.)
With connections in mind, I was tickled to realize that Sean Young, Rachel in Blade Runner, was also in David Lynch’s 1984 Dune.
Anyway, much of the impetus for this cataloging of synchronicities has to do with Mackenzie Davis being in both Blade Runner 2049, and being the star of the upcoming dystopia series, Station Eleven.
Mackenzie Rio Davis (born April 1, 1987)[2] is a Canadian actress, producer, and model. She made her feature film debut in Smashed (2012), and later appeared in Breathe In (2013), What If (2013), That Awkward Moment (2014), The Martian (2015), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), and Happiest Season (2020). She received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for The F Word (2013). From 2014 to 2017, she starred as computer programmer Cameron Howe in the television series Halt and Catch Fire.[3] She also co-starred in the "San Junipero" episode of the television series Black Mirror. In 2019, she starred as the augmented super-soldier Grace in Terminator: Dark Fate opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.
Naturally, I noticed that she is an April fool, but her middle name also resonated. Rio was some kind of pointer that I was exploring years ago. But the initials were the thing that got under my skin. “MRD” Hmmm. Where had I heard that before?
